Archiving Policy
The journal Current Issues of Economic Sciences supports the principles of Open Access and encourages the widest possible dissemination of scholarly results. This policy defines authors' rights regarding self-archiving of different versions of a manuscript in institutional, subject-based, and general repositories.
All articles published in the journal are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), which permits free use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Copyright in published articles remains with the authors.
1. Manuscript Versions: Definitions
For the purposes of this policy, three versions of a manuscript are distinguished:
Submitted Manuscript (Preprint) — the author's version of the manuscript as submitted to the editorial office prior to peer review. This is the original version of the work and does not incorporate any changes resulting from the review process.
Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM / Postprint) — the version of the manuscript that has completed the full peer review process and has been accepted for publication by the editorial board, but has not yet undergone technical editing, typesetting, or formatting into the publisher's final layout. The AAM reflects the final scholarly content of the article.
Version of Record (VoR) — the final version of the article as published on the journal's website, incorporating all publisher formatting elements (layout, pagination, DOI, metadata, licence).
2. Authors' Self-Archiving Rights
2.1. Submitted Manuscript (Preprint)
Authors may deposit the submitted manuscript in any repository or on a personal website at any time, including before, during, and after the peer review process. Posting a preprint is not considered prior publication and does not prevent the manuscript from being considered by the journal.
When depositing a preprint, authors are encouraged to note that the manuscript has been submitted for consideration to Current Issues of Economic Sciences. Upon publication of the article in the journal, the author is required to update the repository record by adding a bibliographic reference to the published version and its DOI.
2.2. Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM)
Authors may deposit the AAM in open institutional, subject-based, or general repositories (such as Zenodo, university institutional repositories, etc.) immediately upon acceptance for publication, with no embargo period.
When depositing the AAM, authors are required to:
- provide full bibliographic details of the published article (title, authors, journal, year, volume, issue, pages);
- include the DOI of the published version;
- include a link to the published version on the journal's website;
- indicate the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0);
- include the following note: "This is the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM). The published version of the article is available at: [URL/DOI]".
2.3. Version of Record
As the journal operates under a full Gold Open Access model with a CC BY 4.0 licence, authors are free to distribute the published version of their article (the PDF from the journal's website) without restriction. Authors may:
- deposit the published PDF in any repository;
- post it on personal and institutional websites;
- share it via academic networks (Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, etc.);
- use it in teaching and presentation materials.
The only requirement is that a proper bibliographic reference to the original publication and its DOI be retained.
3. Recommended Repositories
Authors may choose any open repository for depositing manuscripts. The journal recommends:
- institutional repositories of higher education institutions and research organisations;
- subject-based repositories relevant to the field;
- general repositories: Zenodo (https://zenodo.org), Open Science Framework (https://osf.io);
- the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine.
To verify whether a repository meets international standards, authors are encouraged to consult the Directory of Open Access Repositories (OpenDOAR): https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/opendoar/
4. Journal Commitments
Current Issues of Economic Sciences commits to:
- providing permanent open access to all published articles on the journal's website;
- assigning a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to every article;
- ensuring the deposit of full-text versions of articles with assigned DOIs in the international repository Zenodo (https://zenodo.org), maintained by the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN);
- keeping article metadata up to date to ensure reliable identification of and access to publications;
- imposing no restrictions on authors' right to self-archive any version of their manuscript.
5. Long-Term Content Preservation
To guarantee the preservation of and permanent access to all articles published in the journal, a full archival copy of each article is stored in electronic format. The journal uses the archiving tools available within the OJS platform (PKP Preservation Network). Upon publication, journal issues are automatically preserved in the distributed LOCKSS network among participating nodes.
An additional layer of preservation is provided by the deposit of each article in the Zenodo repository, ensuring independent long-term preservation of scholarly content in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
The journal thus maintains a multi-level archiving system:
- Level 1: the journal's website on the OJS platform (primary access);
- Level 2: PKP Preservation Network / LOCKSS (distributed preservation);
- Level 3: Zenodo (international repository with DOI).
6. Compliance with Funder Requirements
This policy is compatible with the open access requirements of the majority of Ukrainian and international funders and research foundations, including the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU), the European Commission (Horizon Europe), as well as the principles of Plan S and the cOAlition S Rights Retention Strategy (RRS).
Authors who receive funding from these or other organisations may fulfil open access requirements by depositing the AAM or the published version in accordance with the terms of this policy.
7. Regulatory Framework
This policy has been developed in accordance with:
