Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Strauss-Howe theory of generations and explore opportunities for its practical application to enhance the motivational potential of employees in project teams. As part of the study, the timeframes of the four main generations were determined: Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation Z. Their key characteristics, which affect professional development and motivation, are also examined. Additionally, the social and historical factors that influenced the development of the values of the studied generations are investigated. The methodological basis of the study included a theoretical analysis of literary sources, as well as a comparative analysis of different approaches to the classification of generations proposed by both domestic and foreign scholars. The results of the study show that each generation has specific needs and motivational factors that shape approaches to management and motivation in project teams. For example, it was found that stability and loyalty are important for the Baby Boomer generation, while representatives of Generations X, Y, and Z prefer more flexible working conditions and opportunities for personal development. Based on the analysis, recommendations were developed for motivational strategies that take into account the characteristics of each generation, which can help create effective working conditions and improve teamwork. The findings of the study highlight that adapting motivational approaches to the unique characteristics of each generation can increase employee productivity and satisfaction, as well as ensure the successful implementation of projects. In addition, it is important to emphasize the need for continuous monitoring of motivational strategies to ensure they align with changes in social and technological conditions. Further research could focus on the impact of digital technologies and globalization on the motivational factors of different generations, as well as on the integration of alternative theoretical approaches to deepen the understanding of the dynamics of generational relations in modern organizations.
