Issues of Regulation and Supervision of Financial Activities of Insurance Companies During Martial Law

Introduction. During martial law, insurance companies play a critical role in maintaining economic stability and providing financial protection to citizens and businesses. However, in view of the growing risks caused by military actions, the issues of regulation and supervision of their activities are becoming particularly relevant. Increased uncertainty in the market, increase in insurance claims and economic pressures threaten the financial stability of these companies. Therefore, the state must provide effective control mechanisms to protect the interests of insured persons and ensure the stability of the insurance market in emergency conditions.
The purpose of this article is to study the issue of regulation and supervision of financial activities of insurance companies during martial law. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were performed in the research process: the concepts of martial law and state regulation of insurance activity were considered; the peculiarities of regulation and supervision of the financial activities of insurance companies during the martial law were studied.
Results. It is noted that in modern conditions of war, constant changes, risks, technological shifts and economic imbalance, the insurance sector, like other industries, needs significant changes in approaches to conducting its activities. Without timely state regulation aimed at stabilizing the insurance market, reducing risks and balancing the situation caused by the military aggression of the Russian Federation, there is a risk of a significant decline in the insurance market as an important sector of the country’s economy. Conclusion. Regulation and supervision of financial activities of insurers during martial law in Ukraine underwent significant changes after the introduction of martial law, which was provoked by Russian military aggression. A number of key measures were taken to stabilize the market. However, it is advisable to continue improving the regulatory environment and control mechanisms in order to effectively respond to new threats.
