Project management as a component of the management system of modern organizations: theoretical foundations and practical aspects

Abstract

The article examines the theoretical and practical principles of project management as a component of the management system of modern organizations in the conditions of digital transformation of the economy, increased global competition and increased dynamism of the external environment. Modern scientific approaches to the interpretation of the essence of project management are summarized, they are systematized according to conceptual features and the main advantages and limitations of existing approaches are determined. It is substantiated that modern project management should be considered not only as a set of methods for managing individual projects, but as an integrated component of the organization's management system, which ensures the interconnection of strategic management, project activities, resource provision, digital technologies and risk management.

In the process of research, the content of the concept of "project management" was clarified, its place in the management system of a modern organization was determined and its integration role in ensuring the implementation of strategic changes was substantiated. An author's model is proposed that reflects the place of project management in the organization's management system, as well as a conceptual model of its integration, which is based on the interaction of strategic management, project activities, resource provision, digital infrastructure and the results monitoring system. The main areas of practical impact of project management on the effectiveness of modern organizations are summarized, in particular, the implementation of strategic goals, resource management, risks, organizational changes, innovative development, digital transformation, personnel development and increasing competitiveness.

It is substantiated that the effectiveness of project management is determined by the level of its integration with the general organization's management system, the consistency of project activities with strategic development priorities, the use of modern digital technologies, the functioning of the results monitoring system and the development of a project-oriented organizational culture. It is proven that the proposed conceptual approach creates the prerequisites for increasing the effectiveness of management processes, more efficient use of resources, strengthening the competitive positions of organizations and ensuring their sustainable development in the long term.
