Abstract

Purpose. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the economic condition of Ukraine's gas industry under martial law, emphasizing its adaptability and prospects for recovery following military aggression. The research examines key challenges facing the gas sector, including the destruction of critical infrastructure, disruptions in supply chains, changes in natural gas consumption patterns, and the direct impact of warfare on production processes. Particular attention is given to Ukraine's energy security, the necessity of diversifying gas supply sources, reducing dependence on external suppliers, and the evolving pricing policy in an environment of instability.

Methods. The research methodology encompasses an analysis of economic indicators, an assessment of the regulatory environment, a review of international crisis management practices in the energy sector, and forecasting of potential industry development scenarios.

Results. Findings indicate that military actions have led to a significant decline in natural gas production and transportation, particularly in eastern Ukraine. However, timely infrastructure restoration measures and enhanced international cooperation have enabled the Ukrainian gas sector to continue functioning. A crucial factor in this resilience has been the implementation of state regulatory mechanisms aimed at market stabilization and the support of critical industry enterprises.

Conclusion. The study also explores the prospects for the post-war development of Ukraine's gas industry. It is anticipated that the modernization of the gas transportation system and the introduction of innovative technologies will be a strategic priority, facilitating cost optimization in gas extraction and transportation, improving energy efficiency, and strengthening the country's energy independence. Key objectives in this context include attracting foreign investment, expanding international cooperation, improving regulatory policies, and creating favorable conditions for infrastructure modernization.

The research concludes that Ukraine's gas industry holds significant potential for post-war recovery, contingent on effective sector management, regulatory optimization, and the implementation of a robust energy security strategy.
