Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the role of environmental informatics in the system of regional natural resource management. The possibilities of using information technologies for the collection, processing, and analysis of environmental data, as well as their application for informed management decision-making, are considered. The key problems of the implementation of environmental informatics in Ukraine are identified, in particular, insufficient data integration, outdated analysis methods, and a shortage of qualified personnel. The concept of integrating environmental informatics into regional natural resource management to improve the efficiency of management decision-making, ensure sustainable development, and preserve natural ecosystems is proposed. Environmental informatics provides an information base for regional natural resource management by providing accurate information on the state of the environment and the ability to predict the consequences of economic activity.

The purpose is to develop a concept for integrating environmental informatics into the system of regional natural resource management to improve the efficiency of management decision-making, ensure sustainable development, and preserve natural ecosystems. For the realization of the goal, the following methods were used: methods of system analysis - to determine the relationships between the elements of the regional natural resource management system and the role of environmental informatics in it; statistical analysis - for processing and analyzing data on the state of natural resources and environmental indicators; geoinformation analysis - for mapping environmental problems and determining the territorial aspects of natural resource management.

Results and conclusions: The key aspects of environmental informatics are identified, namely, monitoring of the state of the environment, computer modeling of environmental processes, analysis of man-made hazards, and geoinformation systems (GIS) as tools for collecting, processing, and analyzing environmental data. Three key aspects of regional natural resource management are identified. The impact of the war on the environment in Ukraine is analyzed and large-scale pollution of soil, water resources, and air is highlighted.
