Abstract. The relevance of studying macroeconomic instability and analyzing key macroeconomic indicators when managing business entities and when it is necessary to implement a security-oriented approach to management is substantiated.
The purpose of the article is to develop the author's approach to understanding the economic essence of effective insurance management based on the use of methods of scientific generalization, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction.
The purpose of the article is to develop a hypothesis about macroeconomic instability as a factor in activating security-oriented enterprise management and taking into account the dynamics of key macroeconomic indicators in the process of developing and implementing management decisions to ensure enterprise security.
Results. Using the methods of scientific generalization, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction to summarize the main theoretical provisions on macroeconomic instability. An analysis of the main indicators-identifiers of macroeconomic instability of Ukraine in the medium term under the influence of restrictions on economic activity during the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and martial law since February 2022 was conducted: nominal GDP, including by components, nominal GDP growth rate and physical volume index, consumer price index, US dollar exchange rate, unemployment rate and average wage, balance of payments balance. Threats to the economic security of business entities due to price instability and fluctuations in overall economic activity were identified, which is most pronounced in construction, agriculture, processing industry, real estate transactions, transport, and warehousing.
Conclusions. The activities of business entities in modern conditions are characterized by the influence of a combination of external and internal factors, some of which should be considered threats to the security of the enterprise. The main macroeconomic threats to the activities of business entities have been identified, which characterize macroeconomic instability (GDP fluctuations and its structural changes, price instability and currency fluctuations, imbalances in foreign trade and the balance of payments), which requires a review of the main approaches to enterprise management and the introduction of a security-oriented approach.
