Improvement of management by educational institutions based on the implementation of the project of creating innovative STEM hubs

Abstract

The relevance of implementing innovative STEM hubs in improving the quality of education and educational activities, ensuring the training of competitive specialists in the labor market, and conducting scientific research have been substantiated in the paper. At the same time, attention is focused on the importance and necessity of using modern management approaches in managing educational institutions, in particular, the project approach and the development of integration processes and cooperation with stakeholders of educational activities. The purpose of the paper is to substantiate the use of a project approach in the management of educational institutions, as well as the necessity of implementing the project of creating educational STEM hubs. In the research process, both general scientific research methods (systems approach, analysis, synthesis, etc.) and project management methods have been used. Based on the research results, a project for creating a network of STEM hubs has been developed and presented to ensure the development of the educational space of Sumy region, which is innovative and has significant scaling potential. All key aspects of planning and implementing the project of creating STEM hubs for educational institutions have been considered. The content of the project (measures within the framework of project activities), their technological sequence based on the application of grid planning and management methods and Gantt charts have been presented in detail in the paper. The necessary resource provision, a project quality assurance plan, and the quality characteristics of the project implementation results have been also justified in the paper. In addition, the authors have formed a plan for managing risks and changes in project activities. The proposed project provides for all components of project management that allow for effective management and successful implementation of the project. As a result, the proposed approach to managing the STEM hub project provides comprehensive control over all its stages, reduces risks, and contributes to achieving high quality of the final product. The implementation of such a project will allow to increase the efficiency of management of educational institutions, as well as the quality of education and educational activities.
