Abstract

Social well-being is a crucial factor in sustainable development, reflecting harmony between economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The object of the study is the social well-being of the population of Ukraine as a component of sustainable development under current socio-economic challenges. The subject of the study is the relationship between the level of social well-being, its impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ukraine, and the prospects for integrating successful practices to improve the effectiveness of social programs. The study uses a system of relevant scientific methods that allow for an in-depth examination of the interconnection between social well-being and the achievement of the SDGs, relying on statistical data and adapting international experience to Ukrainian conditions. Specifically: system analysis (to assess the role of social well-being as a key factor in achieving the SDGs); empirical methods (statistical analysis) for processing and interpreting data based on calculations from Sustainable Development Data. Global Trends in SDGs: 2000 to 2023, including analysis of the influence of goal_3_score on other SDGs; comparative analysis (to study successful practices in integrating social programs from other countries in the context of sustainable development); expert evaluation method (to determine the prospects for adapting international practices in Ukraine’s social policy); modeling (to identify interrelations between the level of social well-being and other key components of sustainable development - environmental and economic); qualitative data interpretation (for analyzing legal documents, reports, and literature on social well-being and sustainable development). A comparison was conducted with Germany as a country with high sustainable development indicators. It was found that improvements in social well-being contribute to progress in areas such as education, gender equality, energy, and industry. The integration of successful international practices, particularly in healthcare, social security, and innovation, can significantly enhance the effectiveness of social programs in Ukraine. The study confirms that social well-being is a key driver of sustainable development and a necessary condition for achieving harmony between the state, business, and society.
