Abstract

The article examines current trends and issues in investment activities within the tourism sector, which are critical factors in developing the tourism industry. The study aims to analyze, systematize, and generalize existing theoretical and methodological developments regarding investment support for tourism development and to develop recommendations for overcoming institutional barriers during investment activities in tourism. The study presents the main directions of investment, including infrastructure, human capital, innovations, environmental projects, and the development of cultural and historical sites. The importance of adequate investments in forming modern tourism infrastructure and enhancing the competitiveness of regions with high tourism potential is substantiated. A detailed analysis of investments in infrastructure is provided, covering the construction and modernization of hotels, restaurants, transportation facilities, and entertainment centers. It is revealed that modern infrastructure is a decisive factor in creating favorable conditions for tourists. The study also found that investments in human capital, including the training of employees, are critically important for creating a quality tourism product. The article substantiates the significance of innovative investments, including implementing new technologies to enhance tourist comfort. Investments in environmental projects contribute to developing ecotourism and conserving natural resources. The study also highlights the importance of developing cultural and historical sites, which can attract many tourists. Key problems in investment activities within tourism are identified, such as insufficient institutional support, imperfect government assistance, political and economic instability, and limited access to financing. The research reveals that overcoming these barriers requires systemic government policy changes and a favorable investment climate. It is substantiated that investment activities in the tourism sector are an essential tool for ensuring sustainable development and enhancing the competitiveness of the tourism industry.
