It is determined that effective assessment of internal resources and capabilities is a necessary prerequisite for ensuring the competitiveness and sustainable development of companies in the industry. Attention is focused on the need to apply a comprehensive approach to diagnostics, covering financial, production, organizational, and other aspects of activity. The results of the study are aimed at improving the effectiveness of management decisions regarding the formation of opportunities for enterprises in the construction industry. Accordingly, the purpose of the article is to scientifically substantiate and systematize the methodological features of diagnosing the potential of construction enterprises, taking into account the industry-specific nature of their operations. The following key research methods were used in the preparation of the scientific work. The theoretical basis was provided by methods of analysis and synthesis, which made it possible to systematize existing scientific approaches to the assessment (diagnosis) of the potential of enterprises. Graphical and visualization methods contributed to the clear presentation of the results of scientific research. The use of the generalization method ensured the structuring of scientific ideas. The results of the study include an analysis of recent research by scientists on the subject under consideration; identification of issues that should be taken into account in the process of determining the diagnostic methodology; characterization of diagnostic principles and research methods; algorithmization of the diagnostic stages and specification of evaluation criteria and indicators. The study confirmed that the issue of diagnosing the potential of construction companies remains highly relevant from both a scientific and practical point of view, as its results are of interest to a wide range of stakeholders. They form the basis for management decisions, the implementation of which should ensure the sustainable development of business entities in today's turbulent conditions.
