Diagnosis of construction companies activities in Ukraine: status, problems, and challenges

Abstract

Abstract: This scientific work is devoted to researching the current state of development of the construction industry in Ukraine. It is argued that, in the context of the country's European integration course, large-scale infrastructure restoration after war damage, and the need to strengthen the industry's investment attractiveness, the task of conducting a comprehensive diagnosis of the performance of construction companies is becoming particularly relevant. The diagnostic process should ensure the implementation of a systematic approach to the analytical monitoring of key indicators of the functioning of construction companies, which will enable the timely identification of structural imbalances, the forecasting of potential risks, and the formation of sound management decisions aimed at improving the efficiency of their activities. The purpose of the article is to diagnose the state, problems, and challenges of construction companies in Ukraine, taking into account current economic conditions, industry characteristics, and the influence of external factors. In the process of writing this scientific article, the following main research methods were used: analysis (to identify the essence, structure, and dynamics of construction companies' performance indicators, as well as to determine the relationships between factors affecting their efficiency); induction and deduction (for a logical transition from individual facts and analytical observations to the formation of theoretical generalizations); graphical (for a visual representation of trends in key economic indicators); SWOT analysis (to identify the strengths and weaknesses of construction companies, as well as to determine the external opportunities and threats that shape the strategic environment in which they operate); comparison (to compare the performance indicators of construction companies over time); generalization (to synthesize the research results). The scientific work analyzes the number of operating entities in Ukraine in the field of construction, indicators characterizing the provision and renewal of fixed assets of construction companies, investment indicators, the level of digitalization, etc. To realistically assess the development trends of the construction industry in Ukraine, a SWOT analysis was conducted and strategic management measures were outlined, which will be studied in the future.
