Abstract

The article examines the importance and relevance of assessing individual elements of intellectual capital of enterprises in the conditions of a modern economy focused on knowledge and innovation. The authors prove that a comprehensive understanding of the human, structural and relational components of intangible assets allows us to determine the real potential of a company, strengthen its competitive advantages and increase investment attractiveness. Taking into account globalization, digital transformation and rapid changes in the business environment, the assessment of human competencies, information systems, patents, licenses, as well as partnerships requires qualitative and quantitative methods. The article examines the essential principles that assume the systemic and dynamic nature of intangible resources, their close connection with the enterprise strategy, as well as the transparency and measurability of results. Based on the identification of four consecutive stages of assessment, an algorithm is proposed that includes the identification and categorization of assets, data collection and analysis, the selection of calculation methods and interpretation with the subsequent implementation of recommendations. This approach helps management make informed management decisions, promotes effective investment allocation, and allows tracking the dynamics of key intangible components. The article also argues that the maximum benefit from assessing intellectual capital is achieved when it is closely integrated into the overall corporate strategy. Individual elements, such as the level of personnel qualifications, internal regulations and knowledge bases, as well as reputational factors and interaction with stakeholders, are considered in a systemic unity. The identified assessment results should be used to improve management practices, improve internal communications, form an innovative climate, and expand external ties. As a result, it is concluded that assessing individual elements of intellectual capital contributes not only to increasing the efficiency of current activities, but also creates the prerequisites for sustainable growth and strengthening market positions in the long term.
